Ive had experience with ant farms. Even tho my ants never actually made it to the farm i dont think i would actually use a farm again. Although i like the the idea of the ants digging a nest themselves and living naturally it doesnt seem to work out like that lol. It seems like it takes them along time to even consider digging and then there is no guarantee that you could see all the nest.
I havent used ytong or plaster nests yet but i think that is what i would go for. It is like moving into a fully furnished house for ants. All they have to do is go in and get on with things. They are also great for viewing and easier to keep moist and clean. And from the sites and gallerys ive seen they seem to be the main choice for other ant keepers.

Quite right, although, my Messor Barbarus this week decided to move out of the Plaster nest into the tank area...doh!
