Hi Guys, I've been busy as you know with updating the site. Its taken a few days, but I think that you will agree that the new design is a little bit easier to read...especially for children. I've also put up a new online store so that people can buy Ant Farms etc from the comfort of they're own homes and trust that they will be delivered on time. Service is something I've always been interested in. The MB'sToday saw the birth of a new ant. It must be so new because it was almost cream in colour. So yesterday, I had 12 Messors and the Queen. Today I have 12 Messors and the Queen and that includes the new Callow Ant. So where the heck has one of the other ants gone. I could not see it anywhere. In fact, this is the 3rd time one of my ants has gone missing from this nest. I can see that I'm going to have to take the nest sides apart and try to locate the missing ants <gulp> not a nice prospect. Of course, this was always going to be one of the risks of building your own. LOL. The MR'sThis ants are just ferocious eaters. They never stop. I go to the basin to have a peak, and there are a dozen ants searching the floor of it for food. In goes the cricket and some water, and within minutes there are 20 to 30 ants feeding and moving between basin and farm. Extraordinary. I must say that my good lady wife is now looking at them on a regular basis. I think she secretly wants her own farm. The LN'sThe Lasius Queens are doing just fine. One better than the other. I feel that the one with the pupae is going to have some babies soon, so I'm getting excited about that. I'm going to set up a camcorder and try to film them hatching from their pupal cocoons. The TC'sA very shy species this one, don't get them unless you seriously have a lot of patience. I have rigged up another heating pad to their farm to more closely replicate their ideal temperature. I do however see one TC every day. This set actually arrived as a party of 5 workers and one queen. So I'm expecting not to see them that often. The frustration is that the nice tunnel that I created for them (allowing me to see the queen) has been filled in completely. They definately don't like the light! I havn't seen her since putting her into the farm...fingers crossed she's okay. |
