Not a lot to report really.

Tetramorium Caespitum

The TC's are still as active as always. They really are a great little ant, however they are buggers to pick up if one gets out, being that they are so small. The other day, I was getting rid of some old pieces of broken up mealworm. Now as always, I put the pieces into a small tub just in case, and its a good job I did. One of the TC's had been hiding inside the dried husk, and began wondering around the inside of the tub. Getting him out again was a pain, I had to pick it up while it was climbing on a piece of grass seed and put him back into the farm area. LOL. Below is a picture at last of the Tetramorium Caespitum (otherwise known as pavement ants) enjoying a splash of honey that I put into the farm for them.

Myrmica Ruginodis

These fine gals continue to thrive. They have made themselves right at home underneath the Feeding trough in the original small basin. The only way I see them now is if I lift it up, and find the whole lot underneath it much like you do in the wild when you find them under stones. The original farm is now not in use, and Ive cleaned it out and refilled it with new soil and sand for another species.

Lasius Niger

There are now 4 workers and the queen, so things are looking brighter for them.  They still remain in the same small area, and I fully expect them to be in hibernation now until after the winter.

Messor Barbarus

It seems that these gals have now also gone into hibernation, they don't really do much anymore. I havn't seen them foraging for a while now, so again not much to report.

Camponuts Ligniperda

These gals are definately hibernating, and havn't moved from their tubing at all. Except to blog off both ends of it. I'm looking forward to the spring with much anticipation!

I will soon be posting up some actual ant keeping pages shortly, how best to keep them, what to feed them, what to keep them in etc for all the species.
